Phoenix, Scottsdale Killings: Suspect ID'd By Media Outlets

Multiple media outlets are reporting that 56-year-old Dwight Lamon Jones was the suspect who killed himself inside a Scottsdale hotel.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Multiple media outlets have identified a 56-year-old man as the suspect in a slew of killings in and around Phoenix who reportedly killed himself Monday morning. A large police presence could be seen Monday morning near 69th Street and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale. Both Scottsdale and Phoenix police officers tried to make contact with a suspect at the Extended Stay Hotel on the 10,000 block of North 69th Street, police said on Twitter.

The suspect reportedly killed himself when authorities sent a robot into the room, ABC15 reported. Shots were fired inside a hotel room, local media outlets said.

Police said the incident "is related to the recent homicides" and 12News is reporting adouble killing out of Fountain Hills has been connected to Jones.

Marshall Levine, a psychologist and counselor, was shot to death over the weekend in Scottsdale and police reportedly believe his killing was linked to three other slayings in the region — including the shooting death of forensic psychiatrist Steven Pitt, who was involved in the JonBenét Ramsey case.

Pitt was shot to death Thursday near his office in Phoenix. The gunman, described as a balding white man with a short brim hat, fled the area.

A day later, two paralegals — identified as Veleria Sharp, 48, and Laura Anderson, — were shot to death at the law office of Burt, Feldman and Grenier. Scottsdale police said those three killings were related.
