United Food Bank's Shelves Less Stocked for Summer

Cancellation of Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive equals loss of 150,000 pounds

(NALC)

For a second year, the annual Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive will not take place on the second Saturday of May due to ongoing pandemic safety concerns. The organization is instead encouraging people to make financial donations to local food banks online.

United Food Bank, which serves the East Valley and eastern Arizona, will feel the impact of the cancelled food drive since it typically provides 150,000 pounds of donated food to stock shelves for the summer months. In addition, many annual corporate food drives still are not taking place since so many employees continue to work remotely.

You can help fill the gap by organizing your own food drive or donating at unitedfoodbank.org.
