1. Scottsdale earns two national AI awards for government innovation (arizonadigitalfreepress.com) — Scottsdale just earned two national AI 50 awards for using artificial intelligence to improve city services, including a powerful tool that tracks short-term rentals and boosts tax and licensing revenue. Residents can now see licensed rentals and emergency contacts on a public map, while AI also speeds nonemergency calls and supports planning, public safety, and other city operations.
2. Arizona ROC director discusses handling of complaints against Scottsdale company Sun State Pools (abc15.com) — Scottsdale residents using Sun State Pools are now watching dual state investigations into the company's unfinished projects and revoked contractor license. Arizona's Registrar of Contractors director explains why action came after dozens of complaints and says the agency is cooperating with the Attorney General while encouraging affected customers to continue filing formal reports.
3. Scottsdale arts groups awarded $170,000 in grants (yourvalley.net) — More than $170,000 in new state arts grants are headed specifically to Scottsdale arts and culture programs, as part of $2.66 million awarded statewide. From museums to after-school arts, the funding aims to boost creative expression, support Arizona's cultural workforce, and strengthen community life across the state.
4. Woven exhibit explores artistry behind Navajo textiles at Western Spirit Museum (arizonadigitalfreepress.com) — Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West is debuting a new "Woven: Navajo Textiles from the Pelberg Collection" exhibition on Friday, Sept. 5, exploring contemporary Navajo weaving from sheep to finished textile. Scottsdale families can enjoy free youth admission and hands-on weaving activities over Labor Day weekend, with immersive displays connecting the art to Diné weavers and traditions.
