Spring is abloom in Old Town Scottsdale, where the LDV Winery Tasting Room is buzzing with activities. Throughout May, there are multiple opportunities to enjoy a special event at the Tasting Room, or simply stop in for a glass of a favorite LDV wine and some light bites. Here is what is on the schedule for May:

Mother’s Day Special
Sunday, May 10 | All day In celebration of Mom, the LDV Winery Tasting Room presents the LDV Winery Sun-Kissed Viognier Spritzer. It is available for $12 per glass or $35 per pitcher, plus tax and gratuity, all day long on Mother’s Day.

Les Dames d’Escoffier Cooking with Wine and Food and Wine Pairing Course Tuesday, May 12 | 6:30 to 8 p.m. (MST) via Zoom Not only is Peggy Fiandaca co-owner of LDV Winery, she serves as the president of the Les Dames d’Escoffier (LDEI) Arizona Chapter. During this Zoom course, Fiandaca will guide guests through the preparation of dishes using various wine-cooking methods (sauté, poach, braise, glaze and reduction) and share wine-pairing tips for every meal. The menu includes wine-sauteed stuffed mushrooms, wine-poached chicken breast, white wine-braised pork shoulder with herbs, wine-glazed onions, and red wine chocolate-cherry cookies. Participants will be able to ask questions during the live session.

The cost is $50 per person, which includes a shopping list, recipes and a copy of the video to rewatch. Proceeds from Cook Like A Dame online cooking classes go toward LDEI Arizona’s scholarship and grant program. Winemaker Talk Saturday, May 23 | 10:30 a.m. to noon
This month, the event focuses on LDV library wine tasting. Guests will be able to sample and discuss how select LDV wines are aging. The Winemaker Talk is complimentary for wine club members (gratuity is appreciated) and $20, plus tax and gratuity for non-wine club members, which includes wine and nibbles. Scottsdale Wine Trail Spring Wine Showcase Sunday, May 24 | 3 to 6 p.m. at Anticus Art Gallery This special showcase event includes participating tasting rooms around Old Town including Carlson Creek, Arizona Stronghold, Los Milics, Aridus, The Wine Collective of Scottsdale and LDV Winery. The cost is $50 per person, and includes 10 tastings, small bites and special event discounts on select bottle purchases. Seafood lovers will be hooked on Chula Seafood’s new monthly specials. With the arrival of May comes all-new, fresh-caught specials at each Chula Seafood location. The following specials are now available: 
Rosie, South Scottsdale Ginger Sesame Noodle Bowl $22-$32, depending on bowl size
Rice noodles in a tangy ginger sesame dressing with cucumbers, carrots, edamame, baby bok choy, jangajji pickles, and choice of ahi or salmon. This dish is finished with miso vinaigrette, scallions, white onion and toasted sesame seeds.

Uptown Phoenix
Red Crab Ravioli, $36
Ravioli filled with red crab, ricotta con latte, fresh basil and mint, served over a creamy pea purée and garnished with sautéed peas, roasted cipollini onions, lemon butter and Grana Padano.
In addition to this dish, guests can raise a glass to the new cocktail of the month. The Irish Ginger Lemonade features Jameson Irish Whiskey, ginger purée, fresh lemon juice, a splash of club soda and is garnished with a lemon twist.

Watermelon Avocado Poke Salad $21-$28, depending on bowl size and protein selection (or no protein)
Diced watermelon, avocado and baby gem lettuce tossed in a tamari vinaigrette and topped with yellowfin tuna poke and finished with cilantro, radish sprouts, serrano chiles, sesame seed, sesame oil and masago.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Scottsdale Civil War Roundtable will host Neil Chatelain, speaking on ”Treasure and Empire in the Civil War: The Panamá Route, the West, and the Campaigns to Control America’s Mineral Wealth.” This is the story of the unknown and overlooked Civil War campaigns waged over whether the United States or Confederacy would dominate lands, mines, and seaborne transportation networks of North America’s mineral wealth. Neil P. Chatelain is an associate professor of history at Lone Star College – North Harris and vice president of the nonprofit Emerging Civil War, which trains and mentors emerging voices in the field of Civil War studies. Before teaching, Neil served as a surface warfare officer in the United States Navy. His book, Treasure and Empire in the Civil War, won the 2025 A.M. Pate Jr. Award in Civil War History. The lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Copper Auditorium located on the lower level of the Civic Center branch of the Scottsdale Public Library, 3839 N Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. providing an opportunity to meet the speaker, browse our book sale, and view Civil War videos. Parking is free at the adjacent sub-level covered parking garage accessible off northbound Drinkwater Blvd. The public is welcome, free of charge, to attend the monthly meeting of the Scottsdale Civil War Roundtable.
