Students learn how to create Minecraft mods, unlocking creativity while building coding skills they can use beyond games.

Campers design and build their own Roblox tycoon, focusing on game loops, progression systems, and creative world-building.
<h3>🖨️ 3D Innovators (Ages 9–13)</h3>
Over three days, campers dive deeper into 3D modeling and printing, completing multiple projects and taking home their favorite printed creation.

Western Spirit Museum: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West

Join Western Spirit Museum: Scottsdale's Museum of the West for a special screening of Rio Lobo (1970), part of the museum's Still in the Saddle exhibition and film series. Directed by legendary filmmaker Howard Hawks and starring John Wayne, the classic Western follows Union Colonel Cord McNally as he seeks justice against the traitors responsible for a wartime gold theft and the death of his closest friend. Along the way, he forms unlikely alliances with former enemies to confront corruption in the Texas town of Rio Lobo. Following the film, longtime Arizona film critic and journalist M.V. Moorhead will lead a post-screening discussion exploring the movie's themes, production, and place in Western cinema history. Rated G, the film runs 1 hour and 54 minutes. Admission is free for museum members and included with museum admission. Program-only tickets are available for $10.

This week focuses on robotics, teamwork, cybersecurity, and game design. All camps are instructor-led and project-based, giving campers the opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve, and build real technical skills.

<h3>Roblox Design Intro: Capture the Flag (Ages 10–16)</h3>
Campers use Roblox Studio to learn game design, 3D modeling, and scripting while building a multiplayer Capture the Flag game from start to finish.

<h3>Junior Robotics: Programming with VEX 123 (Ages 6–8)</h3>
Young engineers learn basic robot control and block-based programming using the VEX 123 platform. Campers complete fun challenges that build problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

<h3>VEX Robot Squads: Engineering Team Challenge (Ages 9–13)</h3>
Campers work in teams to solve multi-stage robotics challenges inspired by real-world competitions. Students apply programming and engineering concepts while learning the importance of teamwork and strategic thinking.

<h3>Minecraft: Cyber Defenders (Ages 8–11)</h3>
Using Minecraft: Education Edition, campers learn the fundamentals of cybersecurity. Students explore digital safety, encryption, and threat prevention while progressing from cyber basics to advanced concepts in a fun, interactive environment.

Burns Pest Elimination

After the Fourth of July holiday, don't unpack your suitcase just yet! Burns Pest Elimination is offering free bed bug luggage inspections on Tuesday, July 7, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at its Phoenix headquarters. Trained bed bug detection dogs will be on-site to inspect luggage, helping travelers identify any unwanted hitchhiking pests before they make their way into the home. No registration is required, simply bring your unopened luggage during event hours for a complimentary inspection. The event will take place at 2620 W. Grovers Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85053.

Don’t Unpack Yet: Free Bed Bug Luggage Checks After Holiday Travel 

Summer is here, and the Scottsdale Gallery Association and its member galleries are celebrating with a cool way to enjoy art in the Old Town! On Thursday, July 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., the Summer Spectacular Gold Palette ArtWalk takes place throughout the Scottsdale Arts District, which runs along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School Road on Marshall Way to 5th Avenue.

As they stroll through the Scottsdale Arts District, guests can enjoy live music and peruse stunning artwork in all mediums within cool, air-conditioned galleries.

“Summertime in Scottsdale is a unique time for residents to truly explore all the amazing experiences that visitors from around the world come here to see and do,” said SGA President Jinger Richardson. “This is the perfect time for locals to enjoy and support our Scottsdale Arts District galleries, restaurants and retailers.”

Summer Spectacular events happening within participating member galleries include:

Anticus Fine Art Gallery 3922 N. Scottsdale Rd. Anticus is pleased to present “Common Threads: Where Distinction Becomes Connection” during the ArtWalk. This curated collection of works draws breath from shared human experiences, exploring the many ways beauty finds its way into people’s lives and speaks to something deeper within. These collective works are a visual representation that reflects the connections that surround individuals every day. They are meant to remind people that meaning, wonder and beauty are often found in the spaces where stories intersect. Showcasing works from more than 30 different artists, Anticus invites guests to follow those threads throughout this collection and discover the moments of beauty that resonate. The artist in gallery for the evening is Kay Nari.

Bonner David Galleries 7040 E. Main St. “Sweet”, a vibrant group exhibition celebrating the playful intersection of color, nostalgia and indulgence, will be on display during the ArtWalk and through Thursday, July 16. The exhibition transforms familiar confections and childhood memories into imaginative works of contemporary art.
Featuring works by Karen Shapiro, John Schieffer, Jane Jones, Francis Livingston, Robert Johnson, Henry Stinson, Gabriele Koenig Rewis, Kathrine Lempke Waste and Peter Anton, “Sweet” explores the visual language of candy and popular culture through a variety of artistic approaches.

Pejman Gallery
7130 E. Main St. During the ArtWalk, art enthusiasts are invited to peruse the many stunning masterpieces within Pejman Gallery, including vibrant yet soothing scenes such as “Blue Skies” and “Day's End in the Desert” painted by artist Bob Pejman. These paintings evoke feelings of warm summer nights, stunning sunsets and the peaceful tranquility of the Arizona landscape.

Quan’tum Art, Inc. 7077 E. Main St., #16
During the ArtWalk, Quan’tum Art, Inc., will be featuring artwork by John Gleason, Jacque L Keller and Suzanne Larson, along with works by ceramicist Alvin Pace and collage artist Laura Pascal.

The Signature Gallery 7177 E. Main St.
The Signature Gallery presents the “Sonoran Oasis” group show. This summer showcase invites guests to experience a vibrant celebration of summer through artwork that evokes tranquility, wonder and the beauty of the season in the southwestern region. An exceptional collection of works will be on display by select artists, including renowned painter Charles Pabst, ethereal impressionist painter Manuel Avendano, acclaimed bronze sculptor Raymond Gibby, contemporary impasto painter Cara Moran, premier landscape painter Reid Richardson and additional featured artists whose works capture the beauty, color and spirit of the Sonoran Desert in full bloom. In addition to fine art and live music, guests can enjoy refreshing Italian sodas and festive summer vibes while exploring the gallery’s newest arrivals and meeting the attending artists.
Wilde Meyer Gallery 4142 N. Marshall Way “Canvas Chronicles: A Visual Journey” will be on display for the month of July with a reception during the ArtWalk. Guests can enjoy a group show of talented artists, including Jeremy Serna, Manny Valenzuela, Michelle Andres and more, along with light refreshments.

Join Western Spirit Museum: Scottsdale's Museum of the West for a special screening of Big Jake (1971), part of the museum's Still in the Saddle exhibition and film series. Starring John Wayne as a determined rancher on a mission to rescue his kidnapped grandson, the film features a unique Wayne family connection with Patrick Wayne and Ethan Wayne appearing alongside their famous father. Following the screening, Chief Curator Dr. Andrew Patrick Nelson will lead a discussion exploring the film's significance and lasting impact on Western cinema. Campers design, build, and compete with robotic battle-bots while learning the basics of mechanics, gears, sensors, and programming. Challenges include tug-of-war, sumo-style matches, and head-to-head competitions.

<h3>Artist’s Studio: 2D &amp; 3D Digital Design (Ages 7–10)</h3>
Campers explore digital art tools including photo manipulation, digital painting, 3D sculpting, and creative coding. The week concludes with an art-gallery style presentation of their work.

<h3>Game Builder: Creating with Construct 3 (Ages 9–13)</h3>
Campers learn how games are made using Construct 3. Starting with simple projects, students build increasingly complex games while learning real game design concepts.

<h3>Fortnite Designer: Game Development with UEFN (Ages 10–16)</h3>
Students learn how to design and build games using Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Campers create environments, add gameplay mechanics, collaborate with others, and publish their own Fortnite experiences.
