(Patch Media)

Good Monday Morning fellow Scottsdalians! Your Patch Scottsdale Daily is changing it up a bit—I will still be providing the news and information you need and have come to expect. And now you will get in from Monday through Friday each week. The Monday edition will get you caught up from the weekend and ready for the work week, and the Friday issue will include all you need to know about activities and events for your weekend. Your feedback is essential—I'd love to hear what you think of the change; please send your comments and questions to geoffc160@gmail.com. Welcome to the week!

First, today's weather:

A beautiful sunny day is on tap with a high of 88 and a low of 60 —enjoy!

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. The City of Scottsdale is trying to become more efficient in its waste disposal routing, particularly regarding processing recyclables. As a result, most residents can expect a change in their pick-up days, according to reporting in SignalsAZ. The new routes, the first in 20 years, are set to begin on Nov. 1. Are you looking for the new pick-up days? Go to ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search "Collection Day," and then use Find My Service Day Tool. Please call the city of Scottsdale at 480-312-5353 if you are unable to determine your new schedule. (Signals AZ)
  2. Edward S. Curtis's volumes of western photography are featured in an exhibit titled Western Spirit now at Scottsdale's Museum of the West. According to reporting in the Scottsdale Progress, Tim Peterson, the curator for the exhibition, has been at work for two years. Dr. Tricia Loscher, the Assistant Director of Collections and co-curator of the exhibit, was quoted in the piece." Edward S. Curtis is considered one of the foremost American photographers and a controversial photographer in America based on his photographs of Native American people, which we discuss throughout our exhibit." Photography was just a small part of Curtis's life spanning 84 years—from Lincoln to Eisenhower. (Scottsdale Progress)
  3. "Forever Becoming: Young Phoenix" is an exhibit that features Latinx community members under 30. According to the City SunTimes, the multimedia exhibit will run at The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) through Jan. 23, 2022. The artists and their work explore their lives' meaning and invite museum-goers for a look inside. Please call 480.874.4666 for ticketing information. (citysuntimes)
