🌱 Scottsdale Looming Revenue Dearth + notMYkid + Parkinson's

Welcome to the Scottsdale Daily! Here's your go-to for the most important things going on in Scottsdale.

(Patch Media)

Happy Tuesday, people of Scottsdale! Here's everything you need to know today.

First, today's weather:

Today will be partly sunny with a high of 82 and a low of 55. Enjoy!

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Diminishing cash flow is a genuine concern for the City of Scottsdale, according to reporting in the Scottsdale Progress. State and federal resources are funded based both on population and program duration. The report said, "Uncertainty surrounding Scottsdale's future revenue has Mayor David Ortega concerned about the impact of short-term rentals on the city's overall population." According to the report, City Treasurer Sonia Andrews suggested that the current "prosperity" results from folks spending stimulus checks that will eventually dry up. Not everyone agrees; reportedly, vice-mayor Tammy Caputi said that regardless of the ebb and flow of the population, "We're still getting tax revenue in various ways and shapes." No doubt the city will continue to monitor the trends. (Scottsdale Progress)
  2. notMykid recently opened a well-being campus where 10-24 year olds can take advantage of educational, social/emotional, and mentoring programming, according to reporting KTAR.com. "Our journey to opening The Well over the past six months has given us an incredible opportunity to completely transform how we serve and urgently respond to the second pandemic upon us, a mental health emergency," said Kristen Polin, CEO of notMYkid. 'The Well' will be open for tours Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Dec. 2 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.(KTAR.com)
  3. According to a piece in Foothills Focus, a Parkinson's Phoenix Moving Day fundraising walk will take place in the Terravita neighborhood of North Scottsdale on Nov. 13 at 10.30 a.m. This local effort by The North Scottsdale Movers and Shakers team will conclude with lunch at the Terravita Country Club. Reportedly, interested would-be participants are asked to donate; reach out to team co-caption Cathy Boss-Fessel at cboss20@gmail.com. According to the report, "Moving Day is part of a nationwide series of awareness-building fundraisers to benefit the Parkinson's Foundation, whose goal is to make life better for the 1 million Americans living with Parkinson's. In Arizona alone, nearly 18,000 people struggle with Parkinson's Disease." Kiwanis Park in Tempe will host the regional Moving Day Phoenix event on Saturday, Nov. 6. (Foothills Focus)
