• Philip Eugene Coates - Sun City West Independent (yourvalley.net) — Sun City West neighbors are mourning the passing of 97-year-old Navy veteran Philip Eugene Coates, who died peacefully at home on July 17. A longtime Arizona retiree and former IRS employee, he leaves behind many friends who remember his distinct presence. He will rest alongside his late wife Marilyn at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West. 
• Bonnie L. Slinker - Sun City West Independent (yourvalley.net) — Valley residents are remembering longtime Phoenix-area grocery worker and volunteer Bonnie L. Slinker, who died July 10 after being struck by a truck in a shopping center parking lot. Known for decades of service at the Peoria Sports Complex and a Lutheran thrift store, she leaves a close-knit family and many friends who cherished her community spirit.
