Maricopa County Sheriff's Department: Deputy Involved Shooting In Paradise Valley

Phoenix, AZ - On Tuesday, June 24th, 2021, MCSO detectives responded to a residence in Paradise Valley to execute a search warrant pursuant to on an ongoing investigation.

Due to the nature of the white-collar offenses being investigated, detectives sought to gain cooperation from the suspect, Theresse Danielle Federico. Attempts were made to contact the suspect peacefully at the door. the suspect appeared in the residential kitchen with a handgun pointed in the direction of detectives. Commands were given by detectives for the suspect to drop her gun and when she did not, the detective fired a single shot, striking the suspect. She was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

MCSO will be submitting its investigation of this incident for review by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

Additionally, as with all critical incidents, Sheriff Penzone is conducting an administrative review as he holds our Office to a high standard as it relates to all operations.
