• Tempe district employee arrested after misusing security footage, police say (azfamily.com) — A Tempe Union High School District employee has been arrested after allegedly misusing district security video for personal reasons, and Tempe police are now examining how far the misuse went. The employee is on administrative leave while investigators work to identify any potential victims. District and police officials emphasize that student and staff safety remains their top priority. 
• 'Egregious criminal conduct': Phoenix officers accused in violent traffic stop fired, arrested (kpho.com) — Tempe police first investigated an August 5 late-night traffic stop as a possible carjacking before Phoenix police confirmed two of their officers had used force and failed to activate body cameras. Those officers have now been fired and arrested, and state lawmakers are pressing Phoenix officials for independent review and full transparency.
• NHL's Bill Daly says league has had talks with Phoenix for potential expansion team (arizonasports.com) — Tempe figures prominently in the NHL's ongoing talks about bringing a new expansion team back to the Phoenix market, after the Coyotes' short stint at Mullett Arena and failed Tempe arena vote. League officials say Phoenix is actively in the mix for the NHL's 34th franchise, with Texas expected to land the 33rd team by 2029.
