• Depends on the nerds: Tucson Comic-Con brings out fans from all walks of life for fun and fantasy (kgun9.com) — Tucson Comic-Con is taking over the Tucson Convention Center this weekend, with hundreds of exhibitors, cosplay groups and after-hours events at downtown spots like the Rialto Theatre and Hotel Congress. Organizers say the now-regional convention welcomes every kind of fandom, while local groups such as the Arizona Ghostbusters use the gathering to boost charitable work and connect with new supporters.
• Hitting the road? Here are the Labor Day weekend gas prices in Arizona (azfamily.com) — If you're filling up in Tucson this Labor Day weekend, expect to pay about $4.34 per gallon, slightly below the Arizona metro average. New AAA data shows statewide prices, with Scottsdale topping the list and Pima County and Tucson on the lower end, helping local drivers compare costs before hitting the road.
• CAP leaders take a step toward legal action over Arizona's Colorado River water share (kjzz.org) — Leaders of the Central Arizona Project, which delivers Colorado River water to the Phoenix and Tucson areas, have authorized steps that could lead to a lawsuit over new federal river-management rules. They argue Arizona faces steep cuts while some upstream states avoid mandatory reductions, and are simultaneously negotiating a three-state deal with California and Nevada to share the pain of water cutbacks.
