New Coronavirus Case Brings Total To Four In Pima County

A new case of COVID-19 in Pima County brings the total to four locally, with 18 cases diagnosed across Arizona.

The Pima County Health Department has confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Pima County. This new case brings the total number of cases in the county to four. Statewide, officials say there are now 18 cases of the disease caused by the new coronavirus in Arizona.

The individual was tested by the Arizona State Public Health Laboratory, and officials in Pima County were notified on March 16 of the results. The individual is currently being treated at an area hospital, according to a release from Pima County.

The new case comes as the state announced there are now 18 total cases in Arizona.

As the crisis has deepened nationally, Gov. Doug Ducey announced over the weekend that all Arizona schools will close until at least March 27. Ducey also echoed Centers for Disease Control guidance by calling for the cancellation of all scheduled events and gatherings of more than 50 people.

The county has established a website where residents can go to find the latest information on coronavirus in Pima County at www.pima.gov/COVID19.
