Robbery Suspect Who Pepper Sprayed Worker Arrested: Tucson Police

Anjelito Hernandez, 22, is charged with robbery and 3rd-degree burglary, according to the Tucson Police Department.

TUCSON, AZ—An armed robbery suspect accused of pepper spraying a gas station worker after stealing tobacco products is now in jail, according to the Tucson Police Department. Anjelito Hernandez, 22, is charged with robbery and 3rd-degree burglary.

On April 16, police said Hernandez walked into the Circle K at 5501 E. Golf Links Rd. with a mask covering his face. After entering the store, police said he immediately went behind the counter and started filling a large bag with tobacco products.

The store employee, who was working in another part of the business, eventually confronted Hernandez. When he did, police said Hernandez then pulled out a can of pepper spray and sprayed the employee.

During a brief struggle, police said Hernandez's mask fell off. He then ran away with the merchandise and the employee's cell phone, but left his unmasked picture on the surveillance camera.

Police eventually located Hernandez in the 5700 block of E. 28th St. He was taken into custody without and booked into the Pima County jail.
