Tucson Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Apartment Fire; 8 Displaced

Tucson and Northwest Fire District firefighters had a Friday morning blaze under control in 25 minutes, but eight people were displaced.

TUCSON, AZ — An elderly man with disabilities was safely evacuated from his apartment early Friday morning as firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at Mountain Ridge Apartments on the 500 block road of Prince Road.

No one was injured in the fire, although eight people living in four units, including two children, were unable to return to their apartments. They were taken to a Sun Tran bus for temporary shelter as city code enforcement investigators determine if any parts of the building can be occupied.

Those residents are getting assistance from the Red Cross.

After multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and fire, firefighters were at the scene at 7:02 a.m. and had the blaze under control in 25 minutes, according to a news release from the Tucson fire Department. The Northwest Fire District assisted in fighting the blaze.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
