TUCSON, AZ—A man is behind bars and accused of fatally running over another man with his SUV following an argument at a local gas station over the weekend. Adrian Gilbert Manriquez, 27, has been charged with second-degree homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal collision. The victim in the case has been identified as 41-year-old Jesus Alberto Quevedo.

According to the Tucson Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Circle K on West Valencia Road for an aggravated assault Saturday. After arriving on scene, officers said they found Quevedo lying down in the parking lot of the business. He was immediately transported to Banner University Medical Center where officers said he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Based on interviews conducted by officers and detectives, police said they were able to determine that before things took a turn for the worse, Quevedo had gotten into an argument with a adult male customer outside of the Circle K.

According to police, as the customer walked to the passenger side of a Lincoln Navigator and got inside of it, Quevedo followed him and continued to argue. Police have not said what the argument was about.

Manriquez, who was the driver of the SUV, then got involved in the argument and backed out of the parking spot, police said. Quevedo then stepped in front of the vehicle as Manriquez and the passenger attempted to leave.

Police said Quevedo put his arms up, appearing to try to stop the vehicle, and then slammed his hands on the hood of it. Manriquez accelerated, in turn, striking Quevedo. He then fled the scene in the SUV.

Police said they were able to locate Manriquez at his home address a short time later. He was arrested and booked into the Pima County jail.
