Pima County Primary Election: Mail-In Ballots, Poll Hours, More

As Arizona heads to the polls on Tuesday, Aug. 4, here's everything you need to know about the election in Pima County.

TUCSON — With Arizona’s primary election just one day away, Tucson voters will be making their way to the polls in Pima County to have their voices heard. Here’s everything you need to know about how to vote and races to watch as we head into the November election.

1. If you haven’t already mailed in your ballot, you can head to the polls tomorrow to have your vote counted in Arizona’s primary election. Mail-in ballots can be dropped off at any polling station. Find your polling place here.

2. Some Pima County polling places are open Monday for early voting. They will open again Tuesday at 6 a.m. and close until 7 p.m. If you are in line past that time, you can still cast your vote.

3. The country’s eyes will be on Republican Sen. Martha McSally. McSally, who was appointed to Sen. John McCain’s vacant seat after losing her own senate race to Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema two years ago, will face Republican challenger Daniel McCarthy. McCarthy is a local businessman and vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. Whoever wins Tuesday's race will go on to run against Democratic challenger Mark Kelly, a former astronaut who is married to former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords from Tucson.

4. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Tucson, is facing one Democratic and three Republican challengers in the 2nd District. Kirkpatrick is being challenged by fellow Democrat Peter Quilter, a first-time candidate. Brandon Martin, Joseph Morgan and Noran Ruden are all hoping to flip the seat for the GOP in November.

5. Every seat in the state legislature is up for election this year. The 90 legislators — 30 in the Senate and 60 in the House — will be elected to a two-year term.
