Tucson Woman Whose Daughter Partially Eaten By Dog Sentenced

TUCSON, AZ — A Tucson woman whose 8-month-old daughter was partially eaten by a German shepherd mix early last year was sentenced to a year of probation Monday in a Pima County court.

Breanna Henson, 31, pleaded guilty in December to a felony charge of child endangerment. She was initially charged with felony child abuse after police responded to her home around 1 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2019.

A complaint filed last year in Pima County Consolidated Justice Court said Henson was drunk and woke up to find her daughter, Patricia Henson, was unresponsive. The infant had suffered “significant trauma,” including scratches and puncture wounds.

An autopsy report said multiple injuries contributed to Patricia’s death, but the manner of death was undetermined, The Arizona Star reported.

An examination of the dog’s stomach contents showed “human infant teeth and skeletal fragments,” news station KOLD reported. Authorities with the Pima County Animal Control took custody of 11-year-old German shepherd mix the day after learning of the infant’s death, and the dog was euthanized in March.

Police have not said if the dog attacked the baby.
