• Forest Service offers free firewood near Williams (usda.gov) — If you heat with wood or love campfires, there’s new free firewood available just north of Williams at Kaibab Pit, but you’ll need a Williams Ranger District permit and a saw. Permits—both free and paid—are issued at the Clover Road ranger office in Williams, where you’ll also get maps and load tags so you can safely and legally haul seasoned ponderosa pine home.
