1. Tracking a Super El Niño forecasted to arrive this fall and winter (kyma.com) — Yuma is expected to see a wetter-than-normal fall and winter as a strong El Niño develops, with the Desert Southwest trending 50–60% above usual rainfall by late 2026 and early 2027. Forecasters also expect slightly warmer-than-average temperatures, and local meteorologists plan to keep updating how this "Super El Niño" could shape daily life and outdoor plans.
   

2. BOS hears presentation on economic industry (yumasun.com) — Yuma County's economic future was in focus as the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corp briefed supervisors on 379 new jobs, $100 million in capital investment, and a strategy centered on manufacturing, logistics, and agriculture-aligned industries. Leaders stressed they're not actively recruiting data centers, instead prioritizing projects that fit local infrastructure and spread benefits across Yuma and surrounding communities.
   

3. Man, 69, Killed in Yuma Pedestrian Crash on E 24th Street (pacificattorneygroup.com) — A 69-year-old man died after being hit by a Honda Accord Friday night while in the roadway on the 400 block of East 24th Street in Yuma. Police say neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor, and the driver was uninjured. The Yuma Police Department is still investigating, so residents may see continued activity in that area.
   

4. AgTech challenges AZ St. Land Dept. over canceled agricultural leases (kawc.org) — A company called AgTech is fighting the Arizona State Land Department's cancellation of five agricultural leases in Yuma County, arguing the state skipped required notice and a chance to fix alleged violations. The outcome could affect more than 100 local jobs and how biosolids, improvements, and other farming practices are regulated on state trust land here.
   

5. YCSO issues sex offender notification for Roll resident (yumasun.com) — Yuma County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents that registered sex offender Anthony Jolly is now living in the Roll area of western Yuma County, and is classified as Level 1, the lowest risk category. Officials stress he is not currently wanted, warn against harassment, and encourage residents to use the OffenderWatch program and report any suspected criminal activity.
