1. Yuma Tacos and Tunes Returns to Desert Sun Stadium (signalsaz.com) — Yuma families can mark their calendars for Saturday, Oct. 3, when the free Tacos and Tunes festival returns to Desert Sun Stadium from 3 to 11 p.m. Expect taco vendors, live bands, a car show, and a kids zone, plus security checks and a clear‑bag policy at the gate. More details and updates are available through the City of Yuma.
   

2. New smart-farm network aims to connect Yuma agriculture (kyma.com) — A new smart-farm broadband network being piloted at the University of Arizona Yuma Agricultural Center could soon give local growers reliable field connectivity to manage irrigation, equipment, and sensors. With 34 towers planned across 160,000 acres of Yuma County farmland, researchers say the system will support multiple technologies, helping Yuma farmers monitor water use, detect problems earlier, and run more efficient operations.
   

3. Dove hunting season brings thousands of visitors, boosts Yuma economy (kyma.com) — Early dove-hunting season has wrapped up after bringing about 10,000 hunters to Yuma, filling most of the city's 4,000 hotel rooms and pumping money into local restaurants and shops. Visit Yuma and longtime visitors say hunters often book a year ahead, and another surge is expected when the late season opens November 20, keeping tourism dollars flowing into the community.
   

4. About 3,000 Marines return to Yuma for training (yumasun.com) — Expect louder skies over Yuma through late October as about 3,000 Marines arrive for a seven‑week Weapons and Tactics Instructor course based at MCAS. A public CH‑53 training exercise will run Oct. 5 at Kiwanis Park and Crane Middle School, with designated viewing at Kiwanis and Yuma Police directing spectators. Residents can call the MCAS noise hotline with concerns.
   

5. Yuma business owner, passenger killed in Lake Havasu boat crash (azfamily.com) — Yuma residents are mourning Charles "Chip" Romer, owner of Romer Beverage Company, who died with passenger Jennifer Luzzi in a high-speed boat crash on Lake Havasu. Friends in Yuma remember him as a humble, generous leader whose company recently expanded with a local facility; the business will remain open, with memorial details to be announced later.
