'Pickles for Pages' tourney June 20th to benefit Imagination Library (mysaline.com) — Benton residents can sign up now for the new “Pickles for Pages” pickleball tournament at Riverside Park on Saturday, June 20, running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event raises money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Saline County and welcomes adult players of all skill levels, plus volunteer referees who’ll receive a free ref shirt.

Benton family says they're rebuilding after lightning strike sparks house fire Monday night (kark.com) — A Benton family lost their home Monday night after lightning struck the roof and sparked a fire that destroyed the house, but everyone inside escaped safely. Homeowner Desiree Lytle says they’re now waiting on insurance, staying in temporary housing, and preparing to rebuild from the ground up in Benton.

LRPD officer relieved of duty after arrest on assault charge (nwaonline.com) — An incident in Benton led to a Little Rock police officer being relieved of duty after he was arrested on aggravated assault and child endangerment charges. The case, his second arrest in three years, is under investigation and may concern local residents watching how outside agencies handle serious allegations tied to Benton.

Obituary: Florene Ethel Gann (whiterivernow.com) — A Benton resident, Timothy Allan Gann, is among the surviving children of Florene Ethel Gann, an 89-year-old Poughkeepsie homemaker and church member who passed away June 2. Family and friends will gather for her graveside service Friday morning, June 5, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Poughkeepsie to honor her long life of faith, gardening, and devotion to loved ones.
