• Video shows Arkansas officer shot after field sobriety check (knewz.com) — Newly released bodycam video shows Fort Smith Police Officer Kyle Newman being shot during a May DWI investigation that turned into a high-speed chase onto I-540 and ended near Grand Avenue with the suspect's death. Prosecuting Attorney Daniel Shue has ruled four Fort Smith officers were justified in using deadly force, while an internal policy review continues. Newman spent weeks in intensive care before returning home and being honored by the department.
