• Damage reported after tornadoes touch down throughout Arkansas on Friday (kark.com) — Jacksonville has reported significant tornado damage, with traffic slowed near Highway 440 and 67/167 and First Baptist Church on North 1st Street now open as an emergency shelter. The broader Little Rock metro, North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Wynne also suffered major damage, prompting a state of emergency, National Guard activation, and multiple Red Cross and city-run shelters for displaced Arkansans. 
• 'Pride Of The City' Declared After Special Gift In Jacksonville To Firefighters (arkansasradio.com) — Jacksonville residents are getting stronger water-rescue protection as all three shifts of the Jacksonville Fire Department finish training on a new rescue boat funded by a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant. City leaders have dubbed the vessel the “Pride of the City,” highlighting that it expands emergency response for Jacksonville and nearby areas once final processing is complete.
• Charles Page Boyd, age 80 (anaturalstatefuneralservice.com) — Family and friends are preparing to honor Little Rock resident Charles Page Boyd, whose memorial service is set for October 10 at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. Cremation arrangements are being handled by A Natural State Funeral Service on West Main Street in Jacksonville, giving local mourners a nearby place to share condolences and sign the online guestbook.
