Little Rock chamber taps engineer to serve as project manager for proposed downtown park (arkansasonline.com) — A new project manager has been hired to guide the proposed 30 Crossing park on 20 acres of newly opened land in downtown Little Rock, funded in part by a $30 million Bezos Earth Fund grant. Working closely with the city and state transportation officials, she'll coordinate construction, fundraising, and design elements like trails, athletic courts, and event spaces that could reshape the riverfront.
   

2. 40th annual International Greek Food Festival set for October (arkansasonline.com) — Little Rock residents can enjoy the 40th International Greek Food Festival Oct. 2-3 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, with free entry, Greek food, live entertainment, and kids' activities. This long-running fundraiser has donated over $1.6 million to local charities and will again support several Arkansas nonprofits this year.
   

3. Arkansas leaders rally at Capitol to boost suicide prevention for veterans, families (katv.com) — State and nonprofit leaders gathered at the Arkansas Capitol in Little Rock to promote the 988 crisis line and new suicide-prevention efforts focused on veterans and their families. Organizers want 988 to become as familiar as 911 and are building a statewide "Governor's Challenge" blueprint so every county, including Pulaski, can host its own 988 events and strengthen local support networks.
   

4. Former Arkansas National Guardsman recalls Little Rock Nine mission (5newsonline.com) — A former Arkansas National Guardsman is reflecting on his role during the 1957 Little Rock Central High School crisis, when nine Black students were initially blocked from entering the school. His memories of the hostility in Little Rock, the long Guard deployment, and the event's lasting impact highlight how the city's history still shapes conversations about race and duty today.
   

5. Zack Stewart hopeful for fifth season of eligibility with Arkansas baseball (arkansasonline.com) — Arkansas baseball outfielder Zack Stewart is practicing this fall while he waits to learn if he'll receive a fifth year of NCAA eligibility for the 2027 season. The Razorbacks' fall slate includes an Oct. 3 home exhibition against Little Rock, part of a schedule closely watched as courts and the NCAA sort out extra-year rules for 2022 graduates.
