Arkansas Baptist College expands student housing into former La Quinta in downtown Little Rock (thv11.com) — A former La Quinta Inn & Suites on South Broadway in downtown Little Rock is being converted into student housing for Arkansas Baptist College after a $7.8 million purchase. The 12‑story, 261‑room building will significantly expand housing options, support recruitment and retention, and add new student activity and investment to the Broadway corridor and downtown Little Rock.
   

2. Little Rock to apply for $1 million state grant for 30 Crossing park project (arkansasonline.com) — Little Rock's Board of Directors just cleared the way to seek a $1 million state grant to help build the new 30 Crossing urban park downtown, while also funding new fire breathing equipment and police ballistic vests. Directors also approved a temporary entertainment district at Breckenridge Village this fall and renewed key appointments to the Port Authority and Water Reclamation Commission.
   

3. Study Abroad Brings Learning to Life for UA Little Rock Students (ualr.edu) — UA Little Rock students are bringing their coursework to life through study abroad programs that stretch from Scotland and Peru to the Bahamas. Several Little Rock students describe how hands-on experiences in business, history, geology, and biology boosted their confidence, clarified career goals, and even changed how they see their hometown when they returned to campus.
   

4. Making Her Mark: Maria Schuller becomes first Little Rock soccer player named to Hermann Trophy Watch List (kark.com) — Little Rock native and Trojans forward Maria Schuller has become the first player in the Little Rock women's soccer program named to the prestigious Hermann Trophy Watch List. After a breakout season leading the Ohio Valley Conference in goals and points, she says the honor motivates her to keep representing her hometown and building the program's national profile.
   

5. Arkansas runners adjust marathon training as triple-digit heat grips the state (katv.com) — With dangerous heat gripping Arkansas, a longtime Little Rock running coach and store owner is urging runners to shift workouts to cooler hours, hydrate, and cut mileage when needed. Local and statewide runners are adapting training for upcoming marathons, including next year's Little Rock Marathon, by moving some miles indoors and listening closely to their bodies.
