The facility discharges treated wastewater into a tributary of the Little Maumelle River, and must now follow its permit while facing a modest civil penalty tied to timely paperwork compliance.
   

2. Little Rock fire captain featured in governor's Faces of Arkansas series (mhobserver.com) — Little Rock residents can take pride in Fire Capt. Melissa Peabody, who has been honored by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders in the Faces of Arkansas series for her two decades of service. The Station 2 leader, fire marshal, and second-generation firefighter is recognized for breaking barriers in a male-dominated field and for her commitment to fire investigation and community safety.
   

3. Little Rock Zoo set for Zoo Brew event on Sept. 17 (fox16.com) — Little Rock residents can enjoy the adults-only Zoo Brew fundraiser at the Little Rock Zoo on Sept. 17, featuring local breweries, cocktails, food trucks, and live entertainment. Proceeds support the Arkansas Zoological Foundation and future zoo improvements, with general admission and VIP ticket options available online and at the gate for ages 21 and up.
   

4. Keep Little Rock Beautiful to host Great Arkansas Cleanup at Murray Park (thv11.com) — Little Rock volunteers are invited to join the Great Arkansas Cleanup at Murray Park later this month, focusing on the park and Arkansas River shoreline. Keep Little Rock Beautiful will provide bags, gloves, and some grabbers, and boat owners are encouraged to help reach litter along the water while local TV volunteers pitch in too.
   

5. Lexicon University graduates 98 employees as demand for skilled workers grows (katv.com) — A Little Rock-based steel fabricator, Lexicon, just graduated 98 employees from its in-house Lexicon University skilled trades program during a ceremony at the Robinson Center. The initiative, launched in 2022, trains workers in welding, fitting, and industrial maintenance to address a local and national shortage of skilled tradespeople while helping employees build long-term careers.
