The children have been removed from the home, the couple reportedly tested positive for meth as well, and they’ve been ordered to avoid contact with the victims while the case proceeds in Pine Bluff District Court.
   

2. Carlock named PBSD interim superintendent; Stargell to fulfill Zone 4 term (pbcommercial.com) — Leadership is shifting in the Pine Bluff School District as longtime educator Phillip Carlock steps in as acting, then interim, superintendent while the board also appoints Sebastian Stargell Sr. to fill the Zone 4 seat through 2028. The board has not yet outlined a search for a permanent superintendent, even as members debate transparency and fiscal oversight following the district’s recent cyberattack-related loss.

Pine Bluff Administration Committee delays action on district court clerk salary proposal (pbcommercial.com) — Pine Bluff’s Administration Committee has hit pause on a proposal to raise District Court clerk salaries and possibly grant retroactive pay while members seek clearer numbers and funding sources. The plan could boost the clerk’s range to about $76,000 and add more than $30,000 annually to the budget, but council members want more detail on long-term costs and potential state AOJ funds first.
   

4. Heartland Forward, Jefferson Regional, Citizens Bank Announce New Hires (Movers & Shakers) (arkansasbusiness.com) — Jefferson Regional in Pine Bluff has added Dr. Jordan Scribner as a new audiologist, expanding local access to hearing care. The broader roundup also notes hires and promotions across Arkansas in banking, construction, education, nonprofits, and more, but Pine Bluff residents may be most interested in the strengthened specialty services at their regional hospital.
   

5. UAPB's Burruss wins Delta Chapter's Chef of the Year award (pbcommercial.com) — A longtime University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff hospitality professor has been named the Delta Chapter’s Chef of the Year after a gala competition at Saracen Casino Resort’s Event Center in Pine Bluff. W. Jinnings Burruss Jr. says the honor caps nearly four decades of blending culinary arts, education, and leadership while mentoring students and strengthening local banquet and restaurant operations.
