1 Climber Dead, 4 Others Airlifted Off CA's Mount Shasta
Several people were rescued from icy conditions on Mount Shasta and one died of their injuries on the potentially active volcano.

MOUNT SHASTA, CA — Climbers were airlifted off California's Mount Shasta on Monday, with some in critical condition. One climber died of their injuries, Siskiyou County officials said.
Four climbers were rescued after attempting to traverse snowfall that had turned into ice overnight, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
The first incident was reported at 8:39 a.m., where authorities received a report of one climber in critical condition, suffering several severe injuries. A second climber had suffered a broken ankle and a third climber was confirmed dead before rescue efforts could be rendered.

At 4 p.m., a helicopter crew was trying to find a female climber who suffered injuries on the mountain.
The identity of the climber who died was not immediately released.
