Mountain Lion Kills Man, Injures Teen In NorCal: Authorities

A 21-year-old man was killed and his 18-year-old brother suffered traumatic facial injuries after they were attacked, authorities said.

GEORGETOWN, CA — A 21-year-old was killed by a mountain lion over the weekend in a remote part of Northern California, according to authorities.

Police received a 911 call around 1:15 p.m. Saturday from an 18-year-old who said he and his brother had been attacked in the area of Darling Ridge and Skid roads in the El Dorado County community of Georgetown, according to authorities.

The teen suffered traumatic facial injuries and was separated from his brother, according to the county sheriff’s office, which said deputies found the mountain lion about 30 minutes after the initial call for help, crouched next to the older brother. Deputies fired their guns to scare the animal away so they could render aid, but the man was dead, authorities said.
