Teen Driving 123 Mph In Corvette Stopped By CHP In NorCal, Authorities Say

NEVADA COUNTY, CA — A teen in a Corvette was stopped by law enforcement after driving 123 mph in a 55 mph zone over the weekend in Northern California, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Grass Valley highway patrol officer saw the vehicle traveling more than 120 mph on Sunday night and made contact with the 17-year-old driver, who was cited and whose parent was notified, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Highway 49, KTLA reported. Grass Valley is located in Nevada County.

“At 123 mph, things happen very quickly — and there’s very little time to react when something goes wrong,” the patrol said in a post on Monday on its Grass Valley Facebook account.

“There is a time and place to enjoy a performance vehicle, a public roadway with other motorists, pedestrians, and families isn’t it.”
