Voters take into account quality of food, service, surroundings, atmosphere, social impact and price.

Ten restaurants in California were just named to the North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

The annual list was announced on Thursday. The highest-ranked Golden State offering was SingleThread in Sonoma County, which came in 16th on the list and was also named the best restaurant in the western U.S. for 2026.

"Led by husband-and-wife team Kyle and Katina Connaughton — a chef and farmer respectively — SingleThread's Japanese-influenced, super-sustainable cooking has garnered it widespread attention," according to the ranking announcement, which praised SingleThread's "exquisite tasting menu of kaiseki-style dining."
