An Agoura Summer Spectacular
Thousands of people attended Agoura's annual Concert in the Park and firework display on Sunday, and this year's event didn't disappoint.
Approximately 4,000 people turned out for the annual Concert in the Park and fireworks display on Sunday night at Chumash Park. In addition to the fireworks spectacle, the event featured Platinum Rockstars, the cover band of popular groups from the 1970s and 80s, as well as a variety of food trucks, arts & crafts and a bounce house.
"We're going on our 25th year of Concert in the Park," said Nick Newkirk, the City's Recreation Manager and event organizer. "And this is the ninth year for the fireworks show. Every year it gets better and better."
For the second year, the city established a "City Walk" with booths featuring all of the city’s different departments. The booths were staffed by city employees who were available to answer resident's questions, as well as hand out brochures, informative literature and interactive activities.

"This is a good way to showcase what we do for the city," said Mike Kamino, Director of Planning & Community Development.
Kamino said many of the participants to approach his booth were kids, asking questions and participating in trivia games for prizes.

The Cormier family has been attending the event for the past five years. "It's the best fireworks around," said Karen Cormier. "We always look forward to it."
And at 9 p.m. sharp, everyone in the park joined Newkirk in counting down to a spectacular fireworks display.
