Bark For Life goes BIG in Conejo Valley

The American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life honors the care giving qualities of canine companions and care givers. Our canine companions love us unconditionally and show it every day. They wait for us to walk through the door after a long day at work with wagging tails and doggie excitement that can change anyone’s mood in a minute.

This year The American Cancer Society has brought together the Conejo Valley to create one Big Bark For Life event in our area. Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Oak Park have joined together to have the 1^st annual Bark For Life Conejo Valley event on Sunday November 6, 2016 where we will be Celebrating our canine companions and having an afternoon in the park with family, friends and our canines. But we are also Fighting (or Barking) Back against cancer to help The American Cancer Society raise money to support community programs, support groups, fund grants to help find a cure and save lives, and have a world with more birthdays.

Please join us on Sunday November 6th,2016 at Berniece Bennett Park, to Celebrate Remember Bark Back. Opening Ceremonies starts at 11am we will introduce our Grand Marshal Terri Freidin who is a local resident, realtor, mother and cancer survivor. Terri has been apart of the Westlake Relay for years and we are honored to have her be a part of the 1^st annual Bark For Life Conejo Valley event.

Terri will lead the walk along with other cancer survivors human and canine as we celebrate their victory winning their fight against cancer. The walk is a one mile non-competitive walk in the park. Following the walk stay and enjoy the festivities. Bark Avenue will have Human and Canine Vendors and Sponsor Booths who will include to date: Vet of the day is Dr. Gena Broussard, Oak Park Veterinary Hospital, SOPHIE Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park, Just Food For Dogs, So Cal Self Storage, The Barkley Pet Hotel, Westlake Village Animal Hospital, Mystycraft Fabrics, Arbonne, LulaRoe Boutique, Usborne Books. Media Sponsors are Petz Gazette.com, Equine and Canine News and Conejo365. Canine Contests (Best dressed, Best Trick, Dog/Owner Look Alike, Best Bark Spirit, Best Purple Spirit Costume, Youngest and Oldest, Biggest and Smallest Registered Canine Participant) and Games (Peanut Butter Eating Contest, Musical Sit, Search and Rescue, Agility Course), Silent Auction and Raffle Booth, Rescue Parade (Rescue dogs strutting their stuff to hopefully find a forever home), Smiley’s Hot Dog Cart, Shave It .

Every dog registered will get a Bark For Life bandana, dog tag and Swag Bag, $20.00 per dog ($10.00 for an additional dog). Closing ceremonies will be at 2pm we will announce winners for all games and contests. There is something for everyone at Bark For Life. Through the rest of 2016 and into 2017 we will be holding smaller events to bring the Bark For Life canine community together with Yappy Hours, Canine Good Citizen, Meet Up Group, Holiday picture events, Canine Pawty at the dog park.
