Blog: Big Sunday (May 5) Needs More Food/Clothing Donations!
The Big Sunday food and clothing drive happens this Sunday morning in Westlake Village and we desperately need more donations. Read how you can help!!
For the past 5 years, our community has hosted a Big Sunday event to collect needed items for area shelters and to do projects for those less fortunate. This year we will are collecting and sorting food and clothing to benefit the Rescate Family Rescue Center in Canoga Park. Our event will take place this Sunday (May 5) in conjunction with the Triunfo YMCA's Soapbox Derby in the Farmers Insurance parking lot (31051 Agoura Rd. across the street from the Westlake Village City Hall) from 10AM-2PM.
We have had great support from several of our LVUSD schools, but donations have been down the past few years due to the economy, so we are asking residents to help out by bringing over any non-refrigerated food items, clothing, shoes, baby items, and housewares that you can contribute to our collection point. Stay and help sort and box if you'd like, help us make a craft project to brighten the day for seniors and shut-ins, or just enjoy the Soapbox Derby event (there's food, exhibits, and a car show!).
If you can't make it to the event but would like to donate items, feel free to email Dave Moorman at davem@imageresources.net and we'll arrange to pick them up.
