Blog: City of Agoura Hills to Honor Boy Scout Troop 127 at Council Meeting

City of Agoura Hills to honor Boy Scout Troop 127 at council meeting.

Please join Boy Scout Troop 127 at the Agoura Hills City Council meeting on April 24th  at 6pm as the City honors the Troop on its 50th anniversary of serving Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfasts to the community. Approximately 1000 scouts have worked this breakfast since it began in 1963! Calling all alums and parents of alums!

The Troop has a long association with the City, starting with Mayor Denis Weber. Many of the boys started as Cub Scouts in Pack 227 when Denis was Cub Scout Pack Leader 13 years ago. Over the years he has attended many Eagle Scout Court of Honors, even participating in some.  So it’s very fitting that Denis is Mayor in the year of this momentous and joyous milestone in the Troop’s history.

And speaking of Eagles, many scouts from Troop 127 fulfilled their required Eagle projects for the City of Agoura Hills. For example, to enhance the authenticity of the newly restored Adobe, an Eagle Scout candidate and his fellow scouts (and parents) built an authentic adobe oven behind the house on the Reyes Adobe property. Another Eagle project provided the recycle trashcans at all the City parks.

The Troop has led the “Reyes Adobe Days” parade since it began, 9 years ago, as well as runs a children’s activity booth in the Park. And when the City calls on the Troop to provide an honor guard for a special occasion, they know the boys and leaders will be there.

See what all the fuss is about for yourself! Please join the families of Troop 127 on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12th anytime between 8:30am and 12:30pm at Malibou Lake Lodge on Lake Vista Drive in Malibou Lake. The all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, ham and fruit costs only $5 per person due to the generous donations of many local merchants. Mothers are treated like royalty. And every ticket is eligible to win one of over 100 donated door prizes. Plus, you can purchase opportunity drawing tickets to win one of the many themed baskets the boys and parents have put together.

Due to Camporee (an annual District-wide event which showcases the skills and knowledge of every Patrol within each participating Troop), no Scouts will be selling tickets outside the Do-It Centers on April 27 and 28. But tickets ($5 each) may still be obtained by contacting  Julie King, Troop parent, at 818-889-1188 (juliejking@aol.com).

We hope you will join us as we honor moms, grandmoms, sisters, and aunts for all their love and support!
