Blog: Chargers Girls Basketball to Play for CIF Title Today in Anaheim
The Agoura hoops team continues its incredible playoff run with the chance to win a championship and, win or lose, will play in the state tournament.

The Agoura girls basketball team will face Ghar High School, of Cerritos, in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3AA finals today at the Anaheim Convention Center at 4:45 p.m.
Agoura (20-11), coached by Conley Oliver, defeated El Dorado in the semifinals, 41-36, as junior forward Gigi Olelewe scored 16 points and pulled down 21 rebounds and had three blocked shots.

The Chargers defeated El Dorado (25-5) on the road after having winning at Glendora High, 59-44, in the quarterfinals.
Kim Jacobs, a junior, scored 11 points in the semifinals against El Dorado. Sydney Bennett, a senior forward, had eight rebounds, and Noam Leead, a junior guard, had seven assists.

In the quarterfinals against Glendora (19-10), Jacobs led Agoura with 22 points on 7 of 15 shooting, including four 3-point field goals. Brittany Mazal, a junior guard, had eight points and nine rebounds. Olelewe had nine rebounds and four blocks, and Leead had six assists.
It's been an incredible run for the Chargers, who finished in fourth place in the Marmonte League at 8-6. Newbury Park, which was 14-0 and won the league title, lost in the second round of the CIF-Soutnern Section 1A playoffs.
Second place Thousand Oaks, which was 10-4 in league, lost in the second round of the 2AA playoffs. Moorpark (7-7 in league for fifth place) made it to the quarterfinals, but lost to Culver City.
The Las Virgines District teams have prevailed.
Calabasas also will represent the Marmonte League in the CIF championship game. The Coyotes finished third in league (9-5) and will play Thursday, at 4:45 p.m. at the Anaheim Convention Center against Bishop Alemany.
Agoura defeated Beaumont on the road, 62-41, in the first round of the playoffs. Jacobs had 17 points on 7 for 16 shooting, with three baskets from 3-pont range against.
Against Beaumont (16-9), Bennett scored 16 points with eight rebounds. Bennett shot shot 75 percent from the field and 80 percent from free throw line. She hit 6 of eight field goals and 4 of 5 foul shots. Leead scored eight points and had eight assists.
The Chargers only home game of the postseason came in the second round when they edged Sonora, 42-40. Against Sonora (21-7), Leead had 16 points and four assists. Mazal had nine points and six rebounds. Olelewe had 10 rebounds and five blocked shots and Jacobs scored eight points.
