Sue Lepisto's Reflections From the Campaign Trail

As a candidate for Agoura Hills City Council, I was invited to blog on the Patch. Thank you, Patch!!  Since I am a newcomer to blogging, I look forward to learning more about the process while interacting with the Agoura Hills community.   

For 25 years our family has lived in Agoura Hills and we have been active participants in our city.  During the past several months, I met with friends, elected leaders, city staff, community and religious leaders, educators, and business owners to listen to their input.  A few weeks ago as a part of the campaign, I began to walk in our community, ring doorbells, and introduce myself to residents.  Our residents speak about the attributes of our city, comment on some current and past practices, and also suggest what might be changed.    

Continuing on the campaign trail, I attended some LVUSD Back-to-School Nights.  There was a large turnout at Agoura High School’s Back-to-School Night this past Thursday!  From the jazz band playing music on the quad to the parent meetings that were held prior to classroom visitations, Agoura was a bustling campus.  It was great to meet some parents as they entered the school.  I also had the opportunity to speak with students involved in student government and a cross country runner and his father who stopped to talk about our city.  Returning to the campus where our three children attended high school brought back some wonderful memories! 

At Lindero Canyon, Sumac, Willow, and Yerba Buena, there were involved parents who attended their child’s back-to-school night.  The large number of parents who participated in these events demonstrates our community’s commitment to education and our children.
