Children Celebrate Library's 10th Anniversary
The Agoura Hills Library celebrated its 10th year at the Civic Center off Ladyface Court with a children's tea party and mobile tide pool.
Families gathered at Saturday afternoon to celebrate the library's 10th anniversary with a tea party, entertainment and some aquatic exploration.
Mayor Harry Schwarz stopped by to enjoy tea and address the gathered crowd. He explained the importance of reading and his own love of libraries.
"We're here to celebrate this beautiful library," he later told Patch. "There are many cities who are envious of us, because this is one of the most beautiful libraries in the region ... There's nothing like spending time here reading a good book or the newspaper ... everything comes alive at the library."

Before its current location, the library was situated where the Ace Hardware store is located now on Roadside Drive.
"It was chaotic," said Schwarz of the old facility. "It was one-eighth the size of this one and not nearly as well stocked."

Before being entertained by the Mad Hatter, portrayed by actress Nicole Tibbetts, the children dined on Red Zinger tea and small treats.
Later, in the library parking lot, the children experienced a real tide-pool, courtesy of Mobile Marine Lab.
The Landauer family came for both exciting events. "I came for the tea party," said Alana, 4 1/2.
"I like the animals," said Lucus, 3.
