CPR - 5 Steps

Have you ever had to perform CPR? Are you currently certified in CPR and or First Aid training? Do you remember the steps to CPR? Hopefully CPR is something you don't perform everyday. With certifications good for 2 years you might find yourself in a situation where you need to use your training to save a life. So here is a simple 5 step to CPR refresher just in case, and just in time for Summer :) 1. Scene Safety - Always survey the scene for any immediate danger to you as a rescuer. 2. Check Responsiveness & Breathing - Tap on the clavicle(collar bone) and shout for 5 seconds no more than 10 to see if the person responds. Also, watch the chest for rise and fall to see if they are breathing. 3. Call 911 - If they don't respond, have someone call 911 and get the AED...and make sure they come back and tell you they did. - If you are by yourself with an adult, go call 911 and come back and check the scene and responsiveness before you move on. If alone with a Child or Infant, continue through the steps and do 5 cycles of CPR and then call 911. 4. Check Pulse - Check the Carotid artery on in the groove of the neck on the side closest to you for a pulse for 5 to 10 seconds. (Adult) - Same as a above for CHILD, but if you feel 60bpm or less (6 beats or less in a 10 second check)then perform CPR. - For an infant, check the Brachial Pulse on the inside of the upper arm near the armpit for 5 to 10 seconds. ( 6 beats or less in a 10 second check) perform CPR. 5. Perform CPR - Adult 1 person CPR = 30:2 - Adult 2 person CPR = 15:2 - Child 1 person CPR = 30:2 - Child 2 person CPR = 15:2 - Infant 1 person CPR = 30:2 - Infant 2 person CPR = 15:2 This is a refresher.
