Just in time for Fathers Day, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor and author Martin Sheen will sign his new memoir Along the Way: The Journey of a Father and Son on Saturday, June 16 from 11:30 AM until 1 PM at Barnes & Noble Thousand Oaks.
Along the Way was conceived by Sheen and his son and co-author, actor/director Emilio Estevez, as a chronicle of the time they spent in Spain working together on their new film The Way, which Sheen describes as “a film inspired by a grandson, dedicated to a grandfather, and created by a father and son.” But Along the Way is much more than a behind-the-scenes Hollywood story. Alternating between Sheen’s and Estevez’s eloquent voices, Along the Way tells of the fifty-year relationship between an admittedly imperfect father and his equally imperfect firstborn son and their parallel paths to enlightenment, culminating in the production of a film that was deeply meaningful for them both.
Martin Sheen, born Ramon Estevez, is perhaps best known for his unforgettable performances in Badlands, Apocalypse Now, and Wall Street, and as President Josiah Bartlett on television’s The West Wing, but he is equally proud of his role as father to Emilio, Ramon, Charlie, and Renee. A longtime activist for social justice and human rights, he lives in Malibu with his wife of 50 years, Janet. Along the Way is his first book.
