Los Robles Master Chorale will host its second annual Choral Leadership Workshop for area high school students on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at the Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park. The theme of this year’s workshop is MUSIC: Vocation or Avocation?
The workshop offers an opportunity for serious high school choral singers to work in an intimate setting on improving their individual singing and ensemble leadership skills. In this all-day workshop, led by Los Robles Master Chorale Artistic Director and Los Angeles Master Chorale Associate Conductor Lesley Leighton, mixed quartets or octets of high school choral singers will focus on healthy choral tone, proper vowel production, blending voices, and artistic musical interpretation. A special session on vocal technique will also be given.
High school choir directors are invited to select students to take part in this professional level musical training. Directors can chose quartets or octets from among their choir members, with an eye toward those advanced singers sharing their improved knowledge and skills with their home choirs. The cost to participate is only $50 per quartet and the deadline for registration has been extended. Choir directors are invited to attend the workshop sessions with their registered students.
