Local author and illustrator Carol Heyer will read and sign her new book Humphrey’s First Palm Sunday on Sunday, April 1 at 1 PM at Barnes & Noble in the Westlake Promenade, 160 S. Westlake Blvd, Thousand Oaks.
In Humphrey’s First Palm Sunday, thirty-three years have passed since Humphrey the grumpy camel gave his favorite blanket to the baby Jesus. Older but no wiser and ornery as ever, Humphrey schemes to convince his master that he should be the leader of the caravan. Despite the cantankerous camel’s disruptive antics, the caravan finally makes its way into Jerusalem, where crowds shout “Hosanna!” and lay palms on the ground in front of them. Humphrey is convinced that the crowds finally recognize his greatness, until he sees a young man riding a donkey, carrying a familiar blanket …
Thousand Oaks resident Carol Heyer has sold over one million copies of her children’s books, which include Humphrey’s First Christmas, The Little Shepherd’s Christmas, The First Christmas, and The First Easter. Heyer’s books are notable not only for their heartwarming subject matter but also for her rich acrylic paintings, which beautifully illustrate her tales of Biblical times.
