California Lutheran University presents Installations by Gong Yuebin in the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture. Deeply concerned with our natural environment, Gong Yuebin’s extraordinary installations provoke strong feelings of loss or power. Using the blackened trunks of large trees that were burned in forest fires, the artist creates monumental arrangements that are evocative of stone circles or watching figures. CLU is fortunate to have Yuebin’s work on display at the flagpoles beside Soiland Humanities Center and inside the Kwan Fong Gallery. There is an opening day reception at 7 p.m. The exhibit will run through Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Admission is free. Sponsored by the Lois and Allan Friedman Family Foundation and the CLU Art Department. For information, call Michael Pearce at 805-444-7716 or visit www.callutheran.edu/kwan_fong. Located in Soiland Humanities Center, the Kwan Fong Gallery is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
