Los Robles Master Chorale Performs Mozart, Haydn, and Verdi

 Concert Will Also Feature World Premiere

 Masterworks of the choral repertoire by Mozart, Haydn, and Verdi will be presented at Los Robles Master Chorale’s Mostly Mozart. This final concert of the chorale’s season, under the direction of Artistic Director Lesley Leighton, will be Saturday, May 5, at 8:00 PM, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks. The concert will also feature the world premiere of one of the winning compositions in the chorale’s annual Young Artist Choral Composers Competition.

Mostly Mozart will feature musical settings of sacred Latin texts that span four centuries. The centerpiece of the concert will be Mozart’s Requiem, one of the most beloved of all of choral works, performed with organist Kimo Smith and guest soloists Tamara Bevard, Leslie Inman, Daniel Chaney, and Abdiel Gonzalez. Also on the program will be Haydn’s Te Deum and Verdi’s Stabat Mater. Tobin Sparfeld’s prize-winning contemporary setting of O sacrum convivium, a hymn text by St. Thomas Aquinas, carries the venerable tradition of sacred choral music into the twenty-first century.

A pre-concert conversation, which is free to all concertgoers, will offer background information about the music. Audience members are invited to meet the performers at a post-concert reception.

Mostly Mozart will be performed Saturday, May 5, at 8:00 PM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. The pre-concert conversation will begin at 7:00 PM. Advance tickets are $22 adult, $15 student/senior, with group rates available. Tickets on the day of the concert will be $25 adult, $15 senior/student, with $10 student rush with valid picture I.D., one hour before the performance.
