Philippe Quint is a two-time Grammy Award nominee, hailed by critics for his "power, breadth of tone and passion" (The New York Times); as "...a modern day Paganini" (Cincinnati Enquirer); and as ...a violinist of uncommon brilliance and flair" (Strad Magazine).

All of the pieces on the concert program have a connection to Hollywood. Rossini's Overture to The Barber of Seville, composed in 1816, was once used in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. The Korngold Violin Concerto, composed in 1945, is a lush, melodic work based on thematic material he composed for four feature films of the 1930s and '40s. Beethoven's 7th Symphony, composed in 1811-12, is a vibrant work that Richard Wagner called "the apotheosis of the Dance in its highest aspect." It was used as background music in the film, "The King's Speech."
The program will also be performed on Friday, March 9 at 8:00 pm at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, and repeated on Sunday, March 11 at 4:00 pm at Barnum Hall in Santa Monica.
