Free Parenting Classes at Miller YMCA
Miller Family YMCA has teamed up with licensed marriage and family therapist John DeRoy to offer free parenting classes.

The Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park has teamed up with licensed marriage and family therapist John DeRoy to offer free parenting classes at the Miller Y beginning February 24. Classes will take place on six consecutive Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. to noon, through March 31. Free childcare is provided.
The classes will offer new strategies for life-long child-parent connections through discussion groups, role-playing and specific problem solving techniques. The classes will discuss the latest research on the brain and child development, how to set and hold clear and respectful limits, anger and self-regulation and learning from the parents’ own childhoods.
“Parenting is one of the most demanding jobs you’ll ever have so it’s always beneficial to get input from experts and hear from other parents,” says Kara Hensley, healthy living and aquatics director at the Y. “Each class builds on prior sessions so it is important that parents plant to attend all six classes,”
