Grab a Bite at the Wolf

Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Company offers a vast array of entrees, homemade beer and creative desserts.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Agoura Hills Patch picks a great restaurant either in a town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here's this week's choice:

Overview: This is one of my favorite new restaurants. They have an expansive menu with something a little something for everyone, including a full selection for the kids. Wolf Creek is also a brewhouse with their own homemade and delicious ales. Personally, I enjoy a cold brew while sitting outside on the patio. But my favorite is the homemade desserts made by their on-site pastry chef Meghan Launier. The service is fast, friendly and the wait-staff has plenty of suggestions if you need it. Enjoy Happy Hour Monday through Friday with $2 off draft beers and $2 off all wines by the glass, plus 25% off all appetizers.

Drinks: Wolf Creek makes 13 different beers. From the Howlin' Hefeweizen and Golden Eagle Ale to the Midnight Howl Black I.P.A., they have quite a variety. They also offer a wide array of wines, which you can enjoy by the bottle or the glass. For their full wine and beer description menu visit the list here.

Appetizers: When I am not super hungry, I like to grab an appetizer and cold brew. I love the Hummus Trio ($7.50) with sundried tomato, roasted garlic and chipotle hummus. You must try their Sweet Potato Fries ($5.95) with their house-made blue cheese. Great for a group? The Guacamole & Brie Crostini ($8.50). Some other favorites are their Road House Sliders ($7.95) and Kickin' Chicken Sliders ($7.95) with a delicious chipotle sauce. Something not on most menus are the Fried Artichoke Hearts ($7.50) or Ale Batter Onion Rings ($5.95).

Salads: Talk about an endless selection of fresh and crisp salads! Lunch portions are available. My favorite is the Southwestern Chicken Salad ($12.50) with spicy chicken, corn, jack cheese and more topped with fresh cilantro (for a how-to, ). The Tri-Tip Salad ($13.95) is a house favorite served with an ale cilantro vinaigrette. For shrimp lovers, the Miami Shrimp Salad ($13.95) is a must-try, filled with mandarin oranges and a ginger-citrus vinaigrette. The Italian Salad ($12.50) is delicious with chicken breast, red peppers, roasted onions, artichoke hearts and more. Another favorite of mine is their Cobb Salad ($12.50) and the Bistro Salad ($11.50) with candied pecans and a raspberry vinaigrette. They have 14 different selections from which to choose.

Pasta & Pizza: I love the Santa Fe Pasta ($15.75) with penne pasta, peppers, corn, tomatoes, smoked gouda cheese and cilantro. The Pasta Fresca ($14.95) is delicious, filled with pine nuts, peppers, sun-dried tomatoes and more tossed in parmesan. Ravioli fans should try the Chicken Ravioli ($15.25) in a garlic-wine sauce or creamy sun-dried tomato pesto. Some other popular pastas include the Spicy Thai Pasta ($15.75), the Blackened Chicken Pasta ($15.75) and the Pasta Carbonara ($15.75) with peas and bacon.

The pizzas are delicious! I love the Leonardo ($11.95) with chicken, pepperoni, chili flakes and fresh tomatoes. Definitely try the Chipotle Shrimp Pizza ($12.50) or the Gaucho Pizza ($12.50) with spicy cilantro-pesto, roasted jalapenos and tri-tip. They have more than 10 different specialty pizzas. All pizzas are topped with a mozzarella-fontina blend.

Burgers & More: Pass me the Chicken & Brie Sandwich ($10.50) on the warm ciabatta bread and I am good to go. The Chop House Burger ($9.50) is ¾ pound of choice ground angus and it's delicious. Make sure to add grilled onions and avocado on top. Popular sandwiches include the Vaquero Steak Sandwich ($11.50) with flat iron steak, grilled asparagus and cilantro pesto. They have more than 14 different choices from which to pick. For vegetarians, try the Fire Grilled Vegetable Sandwich ($8.25) with peppers, zucchini, eggplant, red onion and more on toasted whole wheat bread. Another favorite of mine is the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich ($9.50). All burgers and sandwiches are served with their scrumptious cajun-garlic fries.

Entrees: If you like chicken, then try one of their eight different chicken specialties like Orange Cashew Chicken ($16.25), Country French Chicken ($15.95) or Chicken Dijon ($15.25) topped with artichoke and served with garlic mashed potatoes. My personal favorite is the Citrus Chipotle Chicken ($14.95), a  spicy offering topped with chipotle sauce. For fish lovers, enjoy the Ale Battered Fish & Chips ($14.95) or Seared Ahi Tacos ($15.25) with blackened spices. Feeling south of the border? Enjoy the Lime Chicken Tacos ($11.25) or BBQ Chicken Quesadilla ($12.25). Some other popular entrees at Wolf Creek are Jambalaya ($18.50) with chicken and shrimp, The Big Easy ($19.95) with panko crusted jumbo shrimp and Flat Iron Steak ($19.50) on a bed of caramelized onions.

Desserts: There are few places that have as many amazing desserts as Wolf Creek, because they have their own pastry chef on-site who creates an array of ever-changing treats. Always on the menu? A delicious Chocolate Layer Cake, Carrot Cake and rotating mix of Cheesecake. If you aren't up for dinner, I recommend wine and a dessert. The selections change daily so you never know what you are going to get. The Banana Pecan Caramel Upside Down Cake has been a recent favorite.
