Key Issues Impacting Las Virgenes School Board

On November 5, voters will head to the polls to elect three new members to the Las Virgenes School Board. With increasing educational demands and shrinking budgets squeezing our district from both ends, the challenges that lie ahead will require leaders willing to advance new ideas and deliver on bold policy approaches.  

As an educator, father of two young daughters and local businessman, I am running for the school board to ensure that our children have every resource necessary to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.

To provide our children the educational foundation necessary for success, our new Board must prioritize four key challenges:

1.    Implementing new state-mandated Common Core standards.

2.    Closing the district’s multi-million dollar education funding gap.

3.    Addressing the teacher funding gap to ensure we continue to recruit & retain the very best.

4.    Implementing a strategic district-wide technology integration program.

Throughout the course of the campaign I will be laying out detailed policy approaches for each of these issues in the Patch weekly between now and the election on November 5.
