Meet an “Amazing” Who Defies The Odds In Competitive Tennis

Inge Weber, at 83, continues to defy the odds, having won not only the Women’s Singles in the 2019 Steve Stevens Senior National Tennis Championships, but also for the second time the “Women’s Over 80 Singles Title” at the ITF World Super Seniors Individual Championships. But what is most impressive about her victories, is that these championships come after Inge had both hips replaced in her mid-70s.

The recuperation, and road to being able to play tennis competitively, was challenging, and it took Inge about a year after each surgery (one hip at a time, mercifully!) for her to regain her strength. Inge remains convinced that seniors can indeed restore previous levels of functioning, post-surgeries and various hip, knee and ankle replacements, as long as they take it slowly but steadily. Confidence is every bit as important as re-training muscles, in Inge’s view.
