Jacinto Bonillo, at 80, can blow away pretty much any other CrossFit aficionado less than half his age. He deadlifts 325 pounds, squats 250 pounds, and can do 20 pullups without stopping. And that’s just the short list of the exercises Jacinto can accomplish.
As a teenager in Spanish Harlem back in the 40s, Jacinto began his long journey into extraordinary fitness by lifting weights made out of soup cans. He just never stopped. But Jacinto doesn’t only show off his prowess, he’s turned his backyard into a CrossFit training gym for neighborhood youth. That’s paying it forward in a wonderful way.
